Girls Coding (Grades 3-6)
Two special camps will be offered by Brentwood School alumnae for girls entering Grades 3 - 6.
8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday
Code Like a Girl is a coding camp for rising 4th - 6th Grade girls.
- Learn how to code programs (SCRATCH and more)
- Create fun story boards
- Play coding related games
- Go on field trips
No experience required, just a desire to be creative and get inspired about the field of STEM with other young girls!
A Brentwood School Alumna and Honors Computer Science student (three years), attending Northwestern University this fall to major in Computer Science, Sadie '19, is your Camp Leader. Sadie, an experienced coding camp counselor and leader, is committed to encouraging other young girls to become interested in computer science and/or STEM fields.
10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday
Lunch is included.
Technology is changing our world. Diversity in computing is lacking. Let's increase girls' exposure to Computer Science! Girls Get IT! is a coding camp for rising 3rd - 5th Grade girls.
- Create fun games and programs using Scratch (a very beginner-friendly block based language).
- Attend field trips to an IT company and an escape room!
- Solve logic games, puzzles, scavenger hunts
- Tinker with hardware
- Learn Internet safety
- Engage with inspiring female guest speakers
Brentwood Alumnae and top computer science students (learning Java, HTML, CSS, and Processing), Angelica '18 and Georgia '18, current college students, are your Camp Leaders. Computing has always been their passion, and they hope to inspire other young girls and spark their interest in STEM at a young age.
