The BCIL Innovation Camp is designed to spark creativity and inspire imagination. Campers will get hands-on experience with entrepreneurship and innovation through various activities, group projects, and experiments. Each interactive challenge will introduce foundational topics in STEM and entrepreneurship and will aim to develop skills such as creative problem-solving and critical thinking. As always, campers will have the opportunity to make new friends and build lasting relationships with other campers. 

No course selection is needed; students will rotate through different modules.

The Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership prepares community members to engage with real-world challenges and explore solutions within and beyond the classroom. Summer at Brentwood offers an ideal opportunity for students to dive into an area of interest and make a difference.

Brentwood School is teaming up with GoBabyGo! and with local hospitals to customize battery-powered, ride-on cars for children with limited mobility. Building collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills, Middle schoolers will study engineering and work together to design, build, and tailor vehicles for the specific needs of each child. At the end of the week, the children will receive their customized cars and zip around in new and exciting ways.

Students will discover their unique leadership capabilities and styles based on The Student Leadership Challenge: The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. The Five Practices and Ten Commitments of Exemplary Leadership include the following:

Brentwood Students Grades 10-12

Note: This course runs weekdays, July 8-12 and July 22-26, with travel to Panama July 14-20

The Belldegrun Center for Innovative Leadership is partnering with Floating Doctors to provide Brentwood students with an international immersion designed for those who want an introduction to the remote healthcare setting. The activities will alternate between helping Floating Doctors in their mission to provide sustainable and accessible health care, learning what it takes to keep a nonprofit/volunteer operation running, interacting with the indigenous Ngäbe populations, and exploring the natural beauty of the wondrous region of Bocas del Toro. 

Brentwood School students* enrolled in this three-week elective credit course will experience two weeks of on-campus instruction, using a workshop-based curriculum focused on major global health issues and important skill sets for addressing them, and a one-week trip to work on site in Panama. This one-week field component includes clinical deployments with Floating Doctors, living and working with an international medical team to achieve health outcomes for an indigenous population that has been severely marginalized. Students will have the opportunity to sit in on age-appropriate consults, assist in veterinary procedures, participate in health education activities, and interact with health professionals from around the world.

This course will only take place with sufficient enrollment. We will notify you by April 30 if this course is running. The travel portion of the course is non-refundable after a five-day window. Only the standard, semester credit class fee of $1,050 is refundable per Summer at Brentwood’s refund policy: A $35 non-refundable application fee is collected for each camper (not each class). If you register and need to cancel, you may do so for a full refund, less the $35 application fee, until May 31, 2024. Beginning on June 1, 2024 , you will receive a 50% refund of the camp fees, less the $35 application fee. Once the selected program has begun, there is a 0% refund policy.
