Junior Lifeguards Camp

DESCRIPTION

This two week camp, utilizing Brentwood's Caruso-Watts Aquatic Center, will teach campers the basic skills of lifeguarding. By the end of the two weeks, all campers will be certified in First Aid, CPR (Adult, Child, and Infant), and AED for professional rescuers. In addition, all campers age 15.5 years and older will be certified in lifeguarding.

REQUIREMENTS

Ages 9-10: complete 100 yard swim without assistance
Ages 11-12: complete 200 yard swim without assistance
Ages 13-16: complete 300 yard swim without assistance and 25 yard brick dive/tow

DAILY ACTIVITIES

  • Morning group warm-ups and work out (running, swimming, plyometrics, calisthenics)

SAMPLE DAY

8:00 a.m. - Group announcements and warm-ups
8:30 a.m. - Group exercise
9:30 a.m. - Small group activities
10:30 a.m. - Large group activity and simulations
11:30 a.m. - Lunch
12:15 pm. - Junior guards competition games
1:00 p.m. - First Aid and CPR training
1:45 p.m. - Swim activities
2:30 p.m. - Dismissal
