Coach Ryan Bailey - Basketball

Ryan “Moose” Bailey, is the Varsity Head Coach at Brentwood School and has been a boys basketball coach and individual skill development trainer for over 10 years. A former collegiate athlete and team captain at UCLA, Bailey has a great deal of experience coaching, running camps and conducting individual and group skill development workouts. Skill development and instilling player confidence are areas in which he excels and some of the many professional players he has had the opportunity to work with include: Baron Davis, Earl Watson, Mike Bibby, and Matt Barnes.  Along with other professional players, he also has experience working with a wide range of players on the collegiate, high school, and youth levels.

Coach David Foote – Soccer

footeDavid began playing soccer at the age of six. A four time state champion in high school, he played competitively at the division I collegiate level for Davidson College in North Carolina. He started coaching while still in high school, helping his own high school coach with the younger school teams, as well as coaching a U-12 boys group. While playing in college, he coached a local club team. He has always balanced his teaching load with coaching soccer, and has coached both at the varsity and junior varsity level (as well as Brentwood’s first ever Lower Division 6th grade team), boys and girls. His Brentwood girl’s teams have had both league and CIF success, and many of his players have continued on to play collegiately. He has run the Brentwood summer soccer camp for the last five years, and before that worked camps for Davidson College, the Dallas Tornado (NASL), the Dallas Sidekicks (MISL), Durham Academy, and Duke University.

 

Coach Rod Lafaurie - Soccer

Rod began his soccer career in Southern California at the age of 5, playing AYSO, then later moving to the club soccer arena at the age of 9.  During his club career he played on one of the United States’s best teams, winning various tournaments and showcases as part of that team.  During his high school career he took part on two CIF championships teams at Mater Dei High School where he made All-CIF his Senior season.  He then went on to play Division I soccer at California State University, Northridge, being a member of the 1st CSUN team to win the Big West Conference, as well as taking part in several games where they beat the then #1 ranked teams in the country.  He was selected Male Scholar Athlete of the year in 2003 as well as All-League his junior and senior seasons.  After his collegiate career, he spent a year with the Los Angeles Galaxy reserve team and then spent three years playing in the Premier Development League with the San Fernando Valley Quakes from 2006-2008.  While still playing, he continued with his education and received a masters degree while accumulating experience as a coach. Rod has been a high school Varsity Head coach for the past 6 years, a club soccer coach for the past decade.  He is the Men’s Head Soccer Coach at NCAA Division III Occidental College, Head Varsity Boy’s soccer Coach at Brentwood School, and the Head Club Soccer Coach of the Westside Breakers Girls Blue 93 and 94 teams.

Coach Jeffrey Porter – Volleyball

Jeff Porter has been the girls and boys volleyball coach at Brentwood for 30+ years.  He has directed the summer volleyball camps and been involved with USAV junior volleyball for 20+ years.  His Brentwood teams have won numerous league titles, along with 10 CIF Championships and 2 California State titles.  Over this span of years with the game, Jeff has developed a volleyball, summer camp curriculum which meets the specific needs of the beginning player, both girls and boys.  This curriculm serves as the core of our camp program.  Jeff also teaches high school biology at Brentwood on the East Campus.  He is married and has three daughters.

 

Coach David Rountree – Swimming and Football Kickers

DavidRountreeWith over 18 years of experience, David Rountree has coached on all levels of competitive swimming from Club and YMCA to College and Masters and has further taught swim lessons to people ranging from newborns to adults 92 years old!  Before moving to California, David was the Head Swim Coach for the North Carolina State University Club for five years and has coached numerous Junior and Senior National Qualifying swimmers as well as two Olympic Trial Qualifiers under the age of 15!  He has been the Brentwood School Varsity Head Swim Coach for the past seven years.  His trademark in coaching is through working the technique and the fundamental side of the swimming while ensuring a love for the sport.

Coach Bryan Weaver – Water Polo

BryanWeaver As a high school varsity water polo coach for 26 years, Coach Bryan Weaver has a very successful water polo career, coaching more than 70 All-CIF water polo players, developing seven NISCA High School All-Americans and recording a 522-317 overall record.  These accomplishments have brought recognition among the water polo community as he serves on the CIF Boys and Girls Water Polo Coaches Advisory Committees, a NISCA Zone 7 Chairman, and All-American Chairman.  He founded USA Masters Water Polo in 1987 and is the current National Chairman.  Each year USA Water Polo bestows the BRYAN WEAVER Master of the Year that honors the Masters member who exemplifies sportsmanship, winning performances and a commitment to the Masters Water Polo community.  As a Masters Player and coach, Coach Weaver has competed in five Masters World Championships, 19 Masters National Championships and earned 14 All-American honors.

 

 Coach Lee Herzog – Tennis

LeeHerzogLee M. Herzog, Psy.D., M.B.A. is a Psychologist in Private Practice in Los Angeles (Brentwood).  He also is the Middle Division School Psychologist/Learning Specialist at Brentwood School as well as the Upper Division Sports Psychologist. Dr. Lee Herzog, brings his both experience and understanding of youth from a  psychological perspective to lead the Brentwood Tennis Camps. Lee has been involved in tennis for over 40 years beginning as a competitive junior in the Intermountain region. He played college tennis at The University of Northern Colorado where he won the North Central Conference Championship for #1 Singles in Doubles in 1979-and 1980.  He competed in the 1979 and 1980 NCAA Division II Nationals and reached the Round of 16 in 1980.  He was ranked #1 in Men’s Singles 1981 in Colorado as well as #1 in Men’s Doubles.  He also earned the number ranking in Men’s doubles in Intermountain, 1984.  Lee earned an ATP ranking in 1981-82 of #785 in men’s singles while playing satellite segments at the time.  Lee was the Director of Tennis at The Aspen Club from 1984-1989.  His teaching and coaching experience included professional tennis players including Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, and Michael Joyce.

Coach Courtney Strauss – Tennis

Courtney grew up playing tennis in Orange County; playing competitive USTA tournaments by the age of 10.  She attended Corona del Mar HS, where she was a 4-year Varsity letter-winner and CIF Champion. Courtney went on to play Singles and Doubles for Division I, UC Santa Barbara, where the team reached a national ranking of 15 in the country.  Courtney has taught many junior camps, including the Nike Camp at UCI and Robin Ray Tennis Camp at the Newport Beach Marriott.  Courtney recently completed her second year at Brentwood as the Girls Head Coach, leading the Eagles to a 2nd Place finish in the Alpha League as well as advancing to the 2nd Round of the CIF Division I tournament.

Coach Greg Fowble – Baseball

Greg Fowble is the Varsity Baseball Coach at Brentwood School. He graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1986 where he earned All-City awards in both football and baseball. After being drafted in the eighth round by the Cleveland Indians in 1986, he accepted a full baseball scholarship to play for the Arizona Wildcats. While at the University of Arizona, he was instructed by American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Famer Jerry Kindall. Coach Fowble has been coaching baseball for almost twenty years.
