Your child will not want to miss out on the chance to imagine, tinker, and invent prototypes that they can take home with them this summer. Camp Invention will generate excitement and encourage a passion for innovation that will open up a world of brand new possibilities.
August 1-5, 2016
The 2016 program is themed “Epic” and was developed by some of our nation’s most brilliant STEM minds including experienced educators, Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and members of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Epic will encourage your child to explore their inventiveness and problem-solving skills with experiences that will harness their curiosity, inspire creativity and evoke a sense of accomplishment!
Camp Invention participants will rotate through four different modules:
Campers will make and adopt their very own DIY robotic cricket powered by the sun. CrickoBot merges STEM concepts and real-world challenges as children explore biology and use their own ideas to create new insect-inspired innovations.
2. Epic Park™
Campers will design tree houses that integrate simple machines and discover Epic Park’s ecological diversity and unique terrain. They will build prototypes and models of innovative eco-adventures and pitch their Epic Park models for the chance to be co-owners by creating a commercial.
3. I Can Invent: Maker Studio™
Campers will exercise authentic STEM exploration as they apply reverse engineering to disassemble broken appliances and redesign them into prototypes. They will express ideas through writing and sketching in their Inventors Log and use creativity, innovation, design engineering and design thinking to engage in problem-based learning.
4. The Lab: Where Pigs Fly™
Your child will explore demolitions, coding, squid, slime and sound-activated lights in The Lab: Where Pigs Fly and anything is possible!
